Local environmental problems were caused by residues of sheep dip pesticides used by Pueblo sheep farmers.

Summary of TOSC assistance
The four chemicals of concern on the reservation were malathion, lindane,
toxaphene, and permethrin. TOSC developed a pesticide manual delivered to the
Zuni Council chairman to educate and enpower the community and improve pesticide
management practices.
