West Alabama Chamber of Commerce Environmental Task Force and the Alabama Planning Association

In October 2005, TAB traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to give a presentation about the program and the kind of assistance the program provides. The presentation was part of a day-long workshop organized by the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce Environmental Task Force and the Alabama Planning Association to help acquaint developers with the challenges and opportunities inherent in brownfield redevelopment.

The city of Tuscaloosa is very interested in starting a brownfields program and is planning to submit a grant proposal in 2006. City officials solicited interested parties to volunteer to participate in an ongoing dialogue about the creation of such a program. The presentation was very well received, and TAB staff will remain in contact with local officials for involvement in future efforts.
