Site description
Several communities in Stamps are located next to the Red River Aluminum Plant, an abandoned secondary aluminum smelting plant. The area has been contaminated by aluminum dross or salt cake. The State of Arkansas is relocating 11 homes that are adjacent to the plant property.
Summary of assistance
The community is concerned over hexavalent chromium and copper in water. TOSC has provided the community with information on the environmental and health effects of secondary aluminum smelting and the production and disposal of dross.
