Site description
Rubbertown is the name of an industrial complex outside Louisville, Kentucky
noted for its history of chemical production. Since 1918, the area has been
dominated by oil refinery operations, automobile assembly plants, creosote
operations, and synthetic rubber and related products manufacturing. These
operations have left a legacy of environmental problems including legal and
illegal dumpsites, Superfund sites, burn pits, and air pollution issues.

Summary of TOSC assistance
TOSC gave technical assistance to Rubbertown by providing a public
health assessment created by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease
Registry. Since that time, the communities within the area have received
significant funding from several sources and TOSC is no longer involved
with the area.
