Restoration Advisory Board at Fort McClellan, Alabama

Summary of TOSC/TAB Assistance (through September, 2005)

TOSC continues to work with the Fort McClellan Restoration Advisory Board to provide information on the contamination found at the post. Fort McClellan covers over 45,000 acres in eastern Alabama, and was the site of weapons training and the U.S. Army's Chemical Warfare School. Since closure in 1999, the post has undergone numerous environmental investigations for underground storage tanks, groundwater contamination, landfill locations and contents, soil contamination and unexploded ordnance (UXO). TOSC's role was limited during the first half of 2005, but the Program continues to be in touch with the RAB concerning activities and issues at the post. TOSC attends quarterly meetings with the Restoration Advisory Board, the U.S. Army's environmental team, and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

Recent activities have centered on providing information and assistance to several citizens concerned over exposures to environmental contamination at the site.
