Site description
Brunswick, Georgia is the site of numerous industrial facilities, including chemical plants, paint production plants, and pulp and paper mills; landfills; and superfund sites.
Summary of assistance
In September and December 1998 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency held a two-part Environmental Justice Community Pilot Training Course in Brunswick to increase the empowerment of environmental justice (EJ) communities in understanding environmental enforcement and monitoring. In conjunction with the EPA, Brunswick's Save the People organization, and the Southern Organizing Committee for Economic and Social Justice, TOSC participated in the Training Course by providing a presentation on data analysis and community/university partnerships.
