Robert D. Schmitter Mr. Robert D. Schmitter: Mr. Schmitter is a Senior Research Scientist/Environmental Geologist within the Safety, Health and Environmental Technology Division of GTRI. Mr. Schmitter’s responsibilities include providing technical assistance on a wide range of environmental issues, and developing, conducting, and managing field investigations involving environmental concerns. He is also responsible for developing and directing training programs focusing on environmental compliance issues, environmental site assessments, underground storage tank management, and asbestos detection and control. He is one of the principals involved in the Technical Outreach Services for Communities program, with a focus on EPA Region VI. He currently serves as Chair of the Environmental Information Association’s Environmental Site Assessment Committee, and is on the Board of Environmental Educators of the National Registry of Environmental Professionals. Mr. Schmitter holds a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Vanderbilt University, and is a Registered Geologist in the State of Tennessee. Mr. Schmitter is currently pursuing a law degree from the John Marshall Law School. Corey Fischer Ms. Corey Fischer: Corey Fischer is a Research Engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Mrs. Fischer received her Master of Science degree from Georgia Tech's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with an emphasis on subsurface contaminant flow and remediation. In addition, Mrs. Fischer received her Master of City Planning with a specialization in environmental planning at Georgia Tech's School of Architecture. Mrs. Fischer's work at GTRI has focused on technical outreach activities and sustainable facilities and infrastructure research. The outreach programs She is also actively involved in designing a Brownfields Clearinghouse which focuses on public health issues in the brownfield process. Prior to coming to GTRI, Mrs. Fischer worked as an environmental consultant in both the northeast and southeast. Her main job during her consulting career was acting as an assistant program manager for a nationwide environmental management program where she was responsible for all phases of projects from proposal initiation to report preparation. |
