Progress Reports on Demonstration Project On-Line
A final 18-month progress report on the Anacostia River Demonstration project is on the reports page and is the first listing under "Cap Monitoring." In addition, there is a downloadable presentation on the demonstration delivered to project director Dr. Danny Reible to the Anacostia Watershed Toxics Alliance on May 16, 2007. It is the first item under the "Presentations" section.
2004 Audio-Visual Progress Report Available
Dr. Danny Reible, director of the Anacostia demonstration project, presented an audio-visual report on 2004 progress to the science advisory committee of the Hazardous Substance Research Center/South & Southwest. Click here to see the presentation.

Chart Summarizes Status of Major Capping Projects
A chart summarizing the status of 109 contaminated
sediment capping projects in North America, Europe and Asia has been
prepared and is available for download
here.
The document was developed by Dr. Danny Reible, a LSU
chemical engineering professor who heads the Anacostia River capping demonstration, in collaboration with the
international law firm of McDermott, Will & Emory and the Johnson
Company, a specialized environmental consulting firm based in
Montpelier, Vermont.
The chart provides project information such as
chemicals of concern, site conditions, design thickness, cap material,
cap area, date built, performance, and general comments.
New Presentations Added to Reports Page
Several new items have been added to the "Reports" page of this site in
April. Two video clips describe recent shallow coring work in the
Anacostia capping demonstration. In addition, there is a Powerpoint
overview of progress to date that was presented to the Anacostia
Watershed Toxics Alliance April 1.
Archived Version of Internet Workshop on Anacostia Project Now Available
The Hazardous Substance Research Center/South & Southwest, in conjunction with the EPA Technology Innovation Office (TIO), delivered a live Internet workshop March 12 on the Anacostia River demonstration of innovative "active capping" technologies. Speakers were project director Dr. Danny Reible of Louisiana State University and one of the project's principal investigators, Dr. Greg Lowry of Carnegie-Mellon University.
An archived version of the presentation, with presentation slides and audio of the speakers, is available at: http://www.clu-in.org/studio/. Select the "Internet Seminars" button and then go to "Archived Seminars."
