The Hazardous Substance Research Centers/South & Southwest (HSRC/SSW) is leading the Anacostia River capping demonstration project in cooperation with the Anacostia Watershed Toxics Alliance (AWTA), a group of government agencies, companies, and conservation groups with interest in the Anacostia River. The HSRC/SSW is a university-based consortium sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency, and its members are Louisiana State University (the lead institution), the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Rice University, and Texas A&M University.
