Serious Texans Against Nuclear Dumping (STAND) is concerned about copper smelting operations and petroleum refining processes near the city of Amarillo.

Summary of assistance (last service April 2001)
STAND has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with TOSC that outlines anticipated assistance efforts. TOSC has prepared and submitted a report on the environmental effects of these operations to STAND. In October 2001, TOSC representatives from LSU and Georgia Tech met with STAND to discuss the history of the area and the concerns of the community. TOSC will compile a record of past historical environmental problems and focus on generating a workshop for residents of Amarillo who are affected by previous copper smelting and refinery operations.
